Textbook Support is an integral part of Stores and Mail Distribution that provides a mechanism to order, receive, deliver, track and place over 27 million dollars in annual state-approved instructional materials on the various schools’ inventories. The office is located at the Stores and Mail Distribution Warehouse.

State-approved instructional materials are ordered through the Florida School Book Depository in Jacksonville. Each week, up to ten tractor-trailers full of books arrive at the warehouse for sorting and distribution to various schools in the District.

A single tractor-trailer holds approximately 1,000 cases of books. The Florida School Book Depository shipments can range from several thousand to several million dollars weekly.

In addition to textbooks, the Textbook Support staff manage all of the ancillary materials associated with textbooks – items such as teacher manuals, workbooks, tests, answer keys, practice guides, game cards, booklets, audio cassettes, posters, videos, CD’s, e-books, etc.

Textbooks are ordered on-line by school site personnel using the SAP shopping cart ordering system. After approval, the requisitions are sent to Textbook Support for processing. The individual orders from the schools are consolidated into a single order, which can be grouped by title, dollar value, publisher, grade level, school, or any combination of criteria. The order is then transmitted electronically to Florida School Book Depository.
